I'm against this, channel 2 should remain open as an option for surprise attacks.
Also, since time immemorial, colonies have had channel 2 since way back around when CW was first introduced into the game. Players should have the freedom to choose how and when they want to attack a colony and having multiple channels provides an additional option.
Removing channel 2 will make CW a one-trick pony deal and bland. But thats just my opinion on it.
Since nobody else has voiced any argument, this is the only argument against accepting this suggestion.
At first it seems that having a second/third channel for surprise attacks is something that gives smaller/weaker factions a slight advantage.
I believe the actual opposite is the case and it gives strong (monopolizing) factions an advantage due to their higher number of players.
A surprise attack with 20 players has way more impact than a surprise attack from 5 players, numbers do matter in Colony Wars.
Furthermore upon checking second channels when Colony Wars takes place, many (new) players who don't participate in it move to other maps for EXP/Vis Farming on purpose. By other maps we mean all kind of maps except for Colony War maps.
So basically this suggestion will be accepted and I am preparing the configuration changes so we can implement it with next maintenance.
As a positive side effect this will decrease the server load slightly which results in less lag.
